The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) opted to keep its monetary policy unchanged, responding to a slight uptick in headline inflation and a widening trade deficit, according to Societe Generale. In July, India’s consumer price index (CPI) rose modestly to 4.45% year-on-year, supporting the central bank's decision to maintain current rates.

Societe Generale also reported that the RBI has been actively intervening in foreign exchange markets to manage volatility as the trade deficit expanded. These efforts aim to stabilize the Indian Rupee amid external pressures.

For Japanese investors, the RBI’s cautious stance and FX market interventions highlight ongoing challenges in emerging Asian markets, which could influence regional currency and equity flows.
