The People's Bank of China (PBOC) established the USD/CNY central reference rate at 6.7840 for the upcoming trading session on Thursday, according to FX Street. This marks a modest increase from the previous day’s fix of 6.7829.
FX Street also noted that the PBOC’s set rate was above Reuters’ estimate of 6.7261, indicating a slightly weaker yuan against the US dollar than anticipated by market analysts. The central bank’s daily fixing plays a key role in guiding the onshore yuan’s trading range.
Japanese investors and traders closely monitor these rates, as fluctuations in USD/CNY can influence regional FX markets and impact Japanese exporters with significant exposure to China’s economy.
