The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has unexpectedly advanced the closure of its special Dollar deposit window to the end of August, a move that triggered a selloff in Indian government bonds, FX Street reported.

According to FX Street, Geoff Yu from BNY highlighted that this decision by the RBI effectively tightens liquidity in the market, putting pressure on fixed income assets. The earlier-than-expected closure signals a shift in the central bank's approach to managing foreign currency liquidity.

For Japanese investors, the RBI’s tightening measures and the resulting volatility in Indian bonds and the Indian Rupee underline the importance of closely monitoring emerging market liquidity conditions amid broader global monetary tightening trends.
