The Japanese Yen strengthened against the US Dollar following recent inflation data that reinforced market expectations of a Bank of Japan interest rate hike. According to FX Street, USD/JPY traded around 158.85 on Friday, slightly lower after bouncing back from the 158.00 level on Thursday.

Japan’s July Consumer Price Index and a stronger August Purchasing Managers' Index have supported the view that the Bank of Japan may tighten monetary policy soon. FX Street noted that about 20 basis points of rate hikes are currently priced in swaps, reflecting growing confidence in a shift from the central bank’s longstanding easing stance.

For Japanese investors and traders, these developments highlight the increasing influence of domestic economic indicators on currency movements, especially as global markets watch closely for any change in the Bank of Japan’s policy direction.
