Global equities demonstrated notable resilience last week, with the S&P 500 rising more than 1%, maintaining levels near record highs despite a significant increase in bond yields and expectations of further interest rate hikes. Deutsche Bank’s Jim Reid highlighted this strength, emphasizing that markets held up well amid these headwinds, according to FX Street.
However, on Monday during European trading hours, futures for major US indices declined amid renewed concerns over Federal Reserve tightening. Dow Jones futures slipped 0.35% to around 51,970, S&P 500 futures fell 0.47% to approximately 7,770, and Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 0.97%, trading near 30,590, FX Street reported.
For Japanese investors, these movements underscore the ongoing sensitivity of global equities to US monetary policy signals, which could influence capital flows and risk appetite in Asian markets in the coming days.
