Markets in currencies and gold experienced notable shifts as investors positioned themselves ahead of the Federal Reserve's upcoming monetary policy announcement. The Australian Dollar traded near 0.7120 against the US Dollar, retreating from its four-month high close to 0.7200 earlier this month, according to FX Street.

The US Dollar Index remained just below the 100.00 level and showed firmness on the day. Meanwhile, the USD/CHF pair extended gains for the fifth consecutive day, trading around 0.8191—levels not seen since July 29, FX Street reported.

Gold prices continued to face downward pressure, with CTAs accelerating selling ahead of the Fed meeting, pushing prices near thresholds that could trigger net short positioning, TD Securities noted. These movements are closely watched by Japanese investors, given their impact on currency pairs and safe-haven asset flows in the region.
