DBS Group Research economist Ma Tieying has raised Taiwan’s GDP growth forecasts for 2026 and 2027, projecting a robust economic expansion. According to FX Street, the 2026 growth estimate was increased sharply from 9.4% to 11.6%, signaling the fastest pace of growth in more than three decades. For 2027, the forecast was also revised upward from 4.5% to 5.6%.
Ma Tieying highlighted that Taiwan’s economy is expected to exceed 10% growth in 2026, a remarkable rebound that reflects strong underlying momentum. This surge underscores Taiwan’s critical role in the global technology supply chain and its resilience amid ongoing geopolitical and economic shifts.
For Japanese investors and market participants, Taiwan’s accelerated growth prospects could influence FX and equity markets, given the close trade and supply chain ties between Japan and Taiwan’s semiconductor industry.
