Standard Chartered has increased its forecast for India’s GDP growth in fiscal year 2027 to 7.2%, up from the previous estimate of 6.6%. This revision follows robust economic data from the first quarter of FY27 and encouraging high-frequency indicators, signaling sustained momentum in India’s economy.

According to FX Street, strategists Anubhuti Sahay and Saurav Anand spearheaded the update, reflecting improved economic conditions and a positive outlook for the year ahead. The upward revision underscores the resilience of India’s growth trajectory despite global uncertainties.

For Japanese investors, this positive outlook on India’s economy offers potential opportunities in FX and equity markets, as India remains a key emerging market with growing influence in the region.
